This pilot tests whether competitive, stage-gated funding and early involvement of demand-side actors can accelerate market adoption and improve innovation cycles.

Funding Model:
Stage 1: €300,000 lump sum for up to 9 months to prepare and benchmark solutions.
Stage 2: Up to €2.5 million lump sum for up to 2.5 years to develop and test promising solutions in real-world environments.

Tailored Business Acceleration Services (BAS) including coaching, mentoring, networking, and access to global partners.
2026 Challenges
1. Accelerating Physical AI – Embodied Intelligence for next-generation AI-powered robotics, enhancing Europe’s technological sovereignty and competitiveness.
2. Translating Disruptive NAMs into Practice – Promote adoption of New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) to replace, reduce, or refine animal testing in biomedicine.
The pilot will provide evidence on whether this ARPA-style approach leads to faster innovation and broader market uptake compared to existing Horizon Europe instruments.
